Mission and History
We Care Missions, Inc. was formally incorporated into a 501(c)(3) organization in 2008. We are organized exclusively for charitable purposes. This is to manage missionary works in healthcare and education for the poor and vulnerable population in rural communities.
The mission of the organization is to provide free quality medical care to the poor and underprivileged in the rural areas of Nigeria who could not otherwise afford it. Medical care is scarce in most areas of Nigeria, and large numbers of people die needlessly for lack of basic medical care. Abject poverty is a contributing factor. Many of these people have never been to a doctor’s clinic for wellness screening or for diagnosis of their ailments. It is a trade-off between purchase of basic necessity and making a visit to the doctor’s office.
The focus is on prevention, treatment and education to address conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and malaria.
We Care Missions, Inc. volunteers have attended to more than 12,000 patients since 2007 during yearly medical missions that not only provide consultation but also surgical interventions when needed (cataract, general, ob/gyn, etc.)
